The shamans relationship to nature is one of the foundations of shamanic practice. Many people feel their strongest connection when in wild nature but wherever we live we are exposed to the sky, stars, sun, seasons and elements every day of our lives. As we become more connected to natures cycles we become more connected to our own and can receive the wisdom and power nature has to offer us.
This course opens up the possibilities of deepening connection with the power and wisdom the seasons, the weather and our surroundings offer by offering different forms and intentions for working with nature. It offers the opportunity to feel more connected to life and it’s resources and the course work creates a resource than can be used in the future to inspire your own work. The ongoing nature of the course facilitates an ongoing shamanic practice and promotes personal discipline.
The focus of the work
There are three main focuses, meetings, ongoing work and being in contact with a partner for support and inspiration.
Meetings
The meetings take place on five Sundays over the year before the major turnings of the year, Solstices and Equinoxes. We will be doing work in nature in Richmond Park and share experiences, teachings and realisations from the previous season. We will also do preparatory work for the upcoming season.
Do I have to attend all the meetings?
We suggest you attend all the meetings as the experience of being there cannot be replicated, however if you are unable to attend we will send you the programme of work from the day as well as the information you need for the upcoming work.
Ongoing Work
There will be ongoing work between meetings to support the years turning. We will work with the seasons, the weather, the sky above us (sun, moon, stars…), working with the spirits of nature in ordinary and non-ordinary reality and events during the year. You will also work in an ongoing way with an area of your choice. This will enable us to work alongside the changes the seasons bring and the changes we experience in our own lives at different times of the year.
Partners
You will be in contact with one other person between each meeting for support and to share experiences. This can be either by phone or e-mail or if you wish meeting up, the partner will change at each meeting.
Commitment
There is a commitment to do the ongoing tasks (some of the tasks are optional) and be in contact with your partner. We will offer ongoing support and you can contact us between the meetings.
Can I join this course if I can’t attend any meetings?
You will still get a huge amount from the work we send out if you are unable to attend all the meetings. There is no reduction in cost for people who join the course but are unable to attend all the meetings.
When can I join the course?
The course can be joined at any time during the year. If you are thinking of joining conact us in good time before the next meeting as you will need to receive some information and do some tasks before attending the meeting.
Can I pay by instalments?
It is possible to pay by installments.
Who can join the course?
Prerequisites for attending this course is to have completed a basic course in core shamanism. If you are unsure if a course you have attended has given you the necessary experience to attend the Turning of the Year please contact us.
